"Shakespeare is Alive and Well in Dorchester" is Still Going Strong

The “Shakespeare is Alive and Well in Dorchester” program is held in collaboration with the Boston Public Schools as an after-school art and theater program. Students from five area schools are participating this year, with more expected to join us in 2008. The O'Hearn Elementary School, The Harbor Middle School, The Murphy School (K-8), the Lucy Stone Elementary School, and the Chittick Elementary School. This program provides Dorchester students with the opportunity to deepen and broaden their understanding of the world through the study of art and the works of William Shakespeare. Students use the works of Shakespeare to help shape and focus their ideas about their world using painting, costume design, puppetry, set design and print materials. We are collaborating with the Actors' Shakespeare Project. This semester children are learning about William Shakespeare’s The Tempest.
